Werrington-EPM 14128
HIGHLIGHTS
- Situated in Georgetown district where large deposits are intrusive related and may be high grade vein type or bulk tonnage porphyry type. The larger porphyry deposits are Kidston and Red Dome.
- Target is only 50 kilometres south of Kidston and target is Kidston style mineralisation based on geological setting and mineralisation suite.
- Identified gold mineralisation associated with quartz sericite rocks.
- QGM propose to infill BCL and stream sediment sampling, assess airborne magnetics and radiometrics in conjunction with compilation and assessment of previous exploration work.
- This will be followed up by grid soil and rock chip sampling then if warranted RC drilling will occur.
Werrington is on the southern edge of a major volcanic field with the Kidston gold deposit on the northern edge, and has seen substantial geochemical surface exploration over three decades but very limited drilling. Recent government-flown detailed airborne magnetic and radiometric data were acquired and are being used in conjunction with an assessment of past geochemical stream sampling. Tungsten and bismuth associated with anomalies for gold and base metals highlight the potential for Kidston-style
IRGS.
