| The Drummond Basin, in central Queensland inland from Mackay and Bowen, is the site of many epithermal vein and bulk gold discoveries since the early 1980s. Epithermal style vein and breccia deposits were largely new discoveries, while the bulk tonnage – low grade “porphyry – style” were commonly contained in historical small high grade workings.
Major gold deposits in the Drummond and adjacent Charters Towers districts are Charters Towers itself with past production and resources around 7million ounces (217 tonnes Au), Pajingo - Vera – Nancy with around 4 million ounces (125 tonnes), Mt Leyshon with 3.5 million ounces (110 tonnes) Ravenswood
(Nolans – Sarsfield) with 2 million ounces (60 tonnes), Wirralie with 1 million ounces (30 tonnes) and Mt Wright with 1 million ounces (30 tonnes).
